Damauli, May 25 (RSS): The ‘Narahari Khanal Memorial Journalism Award’ is to be conferred for the first time on Executive Editor at the National News Agency (RSS), Surya Chandra Basnet.

The award established by Nepal Press Union Tanahu chapter decided to confer the award carrying the purse of Rs 5,555. The virtual meeting led by chapter chair Amar Raj Naharki took this decision. The son of late Narahari Khanal had set up the award in memory of his father, deciding it to be provided by Nepal Press Union chapter in the district. The late Khanal was the former joint general secretary of Nepal Students Union.

The award would however be provided after the improvement in present situation afflicted by COVID-19, according to chair Naharki. Executive Editor Basnet had begun his journalism career from Tanahu two decades back. He had also served as the Chief Reporter and board member of the RSS. —
